Michigan Nordic Fire Festival 2018

Norhalla, Inc. was a proud sponsor of the 2018 Michigan Nordic Fire Festival. The Michigan Nordic Fire Festival is an annual three-day event held over the last weekend in February.

A few Norhalla crew members attended the Michigan Nordic Fire Festival, Saturday 02/24/2018. The festival was a great family-friendly event with a Nordic theme organized to get everyone outdoors to celebrate fire and winter. The festival had much to offer to attendees with booths of Nordic/Viking theme, entertaining performances, children's activities, Viking re-enactors, and book giveaways.

Keep up to date on next years festival by liking their facebook @minordicfirefestival and visiting their website www.michigannordicfirefestival.com.

Opening night of the festival is celebrated with a ship burning.

The Harrow's Viking camp teaches of traditional Viking dress, technologies, and function.

The children had a great time singing and dancing with Princess Merida.

There were many great children activities to include hair braiding, face painting, foam sword battles, and making custom axes and shields from cardboard.

The festival kept us busy with many activities and performances to include sword fighting, belly dancing, spear throwing, hammer throwing, fire performances and longship races.

The festival held a silent auction for a plush Sleipnir doll and four book giveaways where one lucky family was able to take home a free Norse Mother's Tales: Odin's Hungry Horse or Norse Mother's Tales: Freyja's Fat Cat.
