Halloween festivities take place throughout the entire month of October! There are activities every weekend. We go to the farm, carve pumpkins, have a party, and honor Frigga in style by dressing as witches. The month of fall fun finishes with oaths on Halloween night.
We go to the local farm and pumpkin patch where the little kids and big kids alike have a day of learning about animals and farm life.
We held the baby duck and chicks, and rabbits of all sizes!
And we milked the cow!
After going on a hay ride to the pumpkin patch, we get a few pumpkins to add to what is grown in the garden to carve (there are never too many pumpkins!). The following weekend is filled with cider, donuts, caramel apples and carving pumpkins for jack-o-lanterns!
Norse Father and Norse Mother carve jack-o-lanterns, too!
LOTS of jack-o-lanterns!
We got a special treat - Stephen donated the pumpkin plants that we grew in the garden this year, and he selected the largest of the crop to carve into a Valkenhaus jack-o-lantern!
Now that we have the "season of Halloween" off to a good start, the next weekend we host a party for the little ones!
Witches having lunch!
We pin the tail on Sleipnir!
We bob for Idunna's apples!
Peter shows us how it's done!
Then the raiding party on pinata pumpkins for candy and treats!
All of the ladies dressed as witches in honor of Frigga.
Peter and Ivonova
The final weekend is trick-or-treat raiding, campfires with family, and the "big kids" go to Cedar Point for the annual Halloweekends scares and rides.
All of the festivities build up to October 31st, for honoring the ancestors and taking oaths.
Norse Mother presides over the oaths with Samantha and Ivonova as witnesses, "Valkyrie".
Our ancestors came before us, we take oaths to honor their achievements and who they were.
